American AI Safeguards launches a national movement for responsible American AI leadership
The future is being decided now. The public deserves a voice in it.
Artificial intelligence may become one of the most powerful technologies humanity has ever created. America should lead. But leadership means more than building the most powerful AI. It means making sure powerful AI remains safe, secure, accountable, and under human control.
American AI Safeguards is a nonpartisan advocacy organization focused on responsible American leadership in artificial intelligence. We are launching because AI is advancing faster than the rules designed to protect society, and because the public should not be a spectator while that happens.
The same technology capable of accelerating medicine, education, scientific discovery and economic growth can also create new risks to national security, employment, children, privacy, cybersecurity and public safety. We do not have to choose between innovation and safety. America can lead in both.
Our work will focus on public education, grassroots advocacy, and public policies designed to preserve American innovation while protecting national security, human agency and future generations. We support good ideas regardless of which political party proposes them.
AI safety should not belong to the left or the right. It belongs to everyone.
In the coming months we will publish a federal AI safety scorecard, help Americans contact Congress, and convene policymakers with people who actually understand the technology. If that work matters to you, join us.
