Not anti-AI. Pro-safe AI.

There is a loud argument in American life that treats artificial intelligence as either salvation or extinction, and then demands that everyone pick a side. That argument is useful to people who want to shut the other side up. It is not useful to a country that has to govern.

American AI Safeguards is not an anti-AI organization. We believe advanced AI can produce extraordinary benefits for humanity: prosperity, discovery, stronger national security, wider opportunity. We also believe increasingly capable technology requires increasingly serious responsibility.

Falling behind is not a safety strategy. A pause that only America honors is a gift to every rival that will not pause. Criminalizing research is not a substitute for evaluation, biosecurity, cybersecurity, or human control of high-stakes decisions.

The opposite error is just as real. Public safety should not become collateral damage in a race for market share. AI cannot become an excuse for eliminating responsibility. We should learn from previous technological revolutions rather than repeat their mistakes after the damage is done.
